Outcome 2:

Manage available technology and/or information systems in the delivery of primary care.

In the healthcare industry, technology will continue to serve a major role in the delivery of patient care. During the program at Auburn University, I have been exposed to various electronic programs and electronic medical record (EMR) systems including Athena, E-Clinical Works, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SPSS Stastics to name a few. I have also completed a course through the Advanced Practice Education Associates (APEA) on medical coding and billing. In addition to coding my own visits during clinical, the course allowed me to feel confident in my medical coding skills. Additionally, during my clinical rotations I charted in Athena and E-Clinical Works. My family practice preceptor was able to log me in to Athena charting and gave me full authority to chart each patient encounter. During these encounters I was able to master documentation in the EMR. I kept an Excel spreadsheet of all clinical patient encounters. The spreadsheet includes the patient's gender, population, race/ethnicity, and diagnosis case type. Click below to view the cumulative reports of these domains:
